Welcome to the new Afrolicious! It's been a long time coming, and I have given many false starts and hopes, but it's finally landed. Afrolicious is now a weekly digital, multimedia magazine offering a true digital magazine experience. That means that every week, a new issue of Afrolicious drops featuring articles that have been written, designed, and produced to bring the magazine experince to the screen.

TL;DR: it's not just a blog; it's a magazine.

I know, I know: there are plenty of magazines online, and plenty of them made by and for Black culture. But I'm attempting to go beyond blogging daily and calling it a magazine or publishing print articles online. I want to explore how to turn a web browsing experience into a magazine experience and offer it as a singluar event you can consume in one sitting, or bookmark and come back to in your down time.

Much in the way you used to browse through magazines when you're getting your hair done or waiting for your turn in the doctor's office, or the way you wait eagerly for the next issue of Essence or Ebony to arrive in the mail, I want to produce weekly Afrolicious experiences that give you something to flip through, or tap through, as it were.

You can expect five to ten articles every week, a playlist, and, soon, a podcast,

I'm not sure how close I'll get to the perfect execution, but I'm commited to this experiment. The art will get doper, the writing will get tighter, and the experince will get better. I have lots of goodies planned to take advantage of multiple platforms, and I'm looking forward to bringing you along on the journey.

I would like to specially thank Renina Jarmon, Brandon Cooks, and my D5 Squad for listening to me go on and on about Afrolicious. It's finally here!

The best part of this new direction is I can pay writers and artists for their talent. Starting in March, I will open the platform up to pitches. Stay tuned.

As my father loves to say, "The best is yet to come." Make sure you sign up for the mailing list so you don't miss anything.
