Black Girls Rock!

First all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Everywhere I turn I hear and read words of hope for 2010.  Yes 2009 was a difficult, fun, long, brief, bright, sad and joyful moment for many, but the human spirit endures with hope.  I am in love with it.

What better way to express hope than wonderful harmonies and melodies?  Res to the rescue!  I first heard of this artist at a housewarming party where my friends were discussing what happened to this voice also part of the group Idle Warship which includes Talib Kweli. I looked her up last summer but couldn’t find a whole track.  But thankfully the internet heard my wishes and Res was still on her grind and now has a whole album for download: Black.Girls.Rock! Yes, she’s right; we do!

My favorite track is called Not A Pretender and I’ve listened to it on repeat nearly 50 times in a row.  I’ve included it below for your listening pleasure, but make sure to support and download Black.Girls.Rock! from Res‘s website.

Much love to you and yours in 2010!
