Live On Purpose

Every year, my church has something called an anchor.  This is a Bible verse that we recite daily throughout the year to remind ourselves of God’s promises to us.  This year’s anchor is found in Isaiah 41:11:

All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

The year before, our anchor was from Isaiah 40:31:

Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

The anchors usually aren’t that close together, but it just happened that way these past two years.  Anyway, these are bits of promises we internalize as we go on with our lives in the new year.

This coming year, I happened upon a little saying that I think I’ll internalize along with whatever anchor we get next year:

Live on purpose.

Each day we are giving a blessing to grow more and more conscious of who are as human beings.  It’s important to keep growing in a way that takes advantage of that blessing as best as possible.  Of course, if you don’t know what your purpose is, then your purpose is probably to figure out what that is ;) .

We don’t get to choose the circumstances around our births or deaths, but we do get to choose what happens in between those moments.  Even better, you don’t have to wait until the new year arrives to choose joy or to live on purpose.
