Natural Hair Twitter Hours #001

One night I was reading through an interview with @carmennc (shameless plug!) and looking through some #naturalhair tweets.  Many people were asking questions about taking care of their hair, but it seemed unless they were following a crew of like-haired men and women, they weren’t getting answers.  I began wondering what would happen if the natural hair folks on twitter organized to help each other out.  Lord knows me and my hair have been fighting since January ’09.  @carmennc thought it was a good idea and soon afterward we started the Natural Hair Twitter Hour was live.

Every Sunday evening at 10pm EST (7pm PST) we gather around the #naturalhair hashtag and bring our questions, insights and product recommendations to the tweet stream.  Here is the write up from the first one.

@carmennc started us off by shouting out she’d been natural for 6 years, and others followed with their numbers, but @babyarkansas won with 11 years.  We talked about the wonders of shea butter as well as where to find the product (many twitter naturals are selling it).  Coconut oil came into the conversation for a minute as well.  The Apple Cider Vinegar rinse also came up, which, according to @aziza_ is supposed to maintain the pH balance of the scalp for less flakiness.  People chimed in with their experiences with this rinse, mostly positive.  Folks talked about trimming hair and the way going natural transforms lifestyles as well.
